Piano Nocturne No. 1
“Piano Nocturne No. 1” is the first of three nocturnes that I have written. Inspired by the nocturnes of Frédéric Chopin and John Field, the piece aims to reflect the early Romantic style. A piano “Nocturne” originates from the French word for nocturnal, meaning of the night. This piece intends to reflect the moods and feelings evoked during the night. As the piece evolves from E major to C# minor, it is intended to show the transition from day to night.
